Highlights - Half (Women)|
Sometimes more is less - it's about knowing WHERE to put the highlights. You can either put them any old place, or do it with an "artist's eye."

Peter's "eye" for color is even more discerning than mine... that says a LOT!
Stylist:Peter
I've been to a lot of hairdressers -- including some famous ones, and I must say that Peter at Extravaganza ranks with the best of them. He really understands things like curl patterns and cutting, he has an amazing eye and memory for color, and he know a LOT about hair textures and treatments. If that's not enough, he's SUPER nice.
THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT A SALON...EVER!!!! If you care about your hair AT ALL, YOU WILL AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! I went in for ombre highlights. When I explained to the guy that I wasn't looking for my hair to ombre to platinum blonde but rather a caramel color, he said no problem. Perfect I thought. What he meant to say was, "I can add toner to the color I'm going to apply to your hair for an extra $65." So after a really terrible cut and blow out, I went to pay and was charged $65 more than I was told. When I mentioned that, he had the nerve to look me in the eye (in front of the manager of course) and tell me he informed me of the price increase. I paid begrudgingly and noticed I had a horrific line in my hair due to the fact that he didn't give me highlights, he just slapped bleach on my hair half way down my head. To "fix" it, he doused my head in more toner which hardly made it look better. I had to go to another salon after to have my hair fixed. The stylist actually cringed at the sight of my hair and apologized that someone would do that to me. I can't say this enough...these people are completely unqualified to be touching anyone's hair. What's worse is they are rude and will lie to you about pricing until it is too late to do anything about it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS "SALON"!
I am still in a state of shock at how negative my experience was at this hair salon. Never have I encountered such a manipulative, corrupt, and unprofessional business in Manhattan, or even in the United States. There are no rules at this place, and the customer certainly is not right, even if that requires the hairdresser lying to your face, or lying to you on the phone. I decide to check this place out when I stumbled upon a voucher for a keratin treatment on Rue La La. I was unhappy with my last experience (I have had keratin treatments before) and was looking for a new salon. My hairdresser put almost no product in my hair, literally not covering 1/4 of my head and did not attempt to rub the product in, rather, he combed through in a few times, trying to spread the product to the areas that were product-less. I complained about my last treatment to the guy working on my hair before we started, and am now ashamed because of how amazing a job they did compared to Extravaganza Hair Designs. I think this is where the place went wrong, because he proceeded to try and convince me to pay $100 more to get the stronger treatment done. Little did he know, I have had both done and know exactly what they entail and what the result should be like. He literally told me I was wasting my money and I had to tell him I did not have a choice- He was THAT pushy. I am assuming that he put almost no product in my hair for this reason- he needed to make sure that the treatment did not work so he did not get caught blatantly lying to me- or, he wanted me to have to come back in a few days to get the $600 treatment he said I have to get without "wasting my money". I hope that when customers come to Extravaganza Hair designs and pay full price at least 5 times as much product is used. In addition, when I was paying "tax" they guy hits a bunch of keys on a calculator for about 30 sec- min and then looks up at me and says "seventy-five". I answer "WHAT?!", at this point, I'm furious, and such a shy person I was already petrified of having to walk out of the place without tipping anyone. The guys immediately goes no, "five". So basically, the tax went from $75 to $5 due to my reaction (guess the guy got scared?). Very manipulative business. Even if they do a good job for $400-600, who wants to pay such a group of mean, unprofessional people? I feel so utterly disrespected and walked upon. My mom called and the guy who did my hair lied to her on the phone and told her he put lots of product on my hair and that when I left my hair was so silky. I know exactly how much product should be used, and how my hair was not silky at all for the treatment I had just had. I highly recommend not wasting energy or time on this place- if they keep this up I doubt they will remain a successful business. Manhattan, simply has too much too offer.
